Seriously, you see that boat out there? Nicole had to get up from this position and put her book down so she could collect their five dollars.
Essentially, we’re taking in stride repeated warnings of the impending insanity that is Summer at the Kalispell Bay Boat Launch. We’re doing that by gaining a great appreciation for… the peace, quiet and solitude that are NOT summer at the Kalispell Bay Boat Launch.
We’re three weeks away from the 4th of July festivities. Area schools have let out and the summer residences are beginning to fill up. We had four cars on the road with us the other day. It’s just crazy!
There hasn’t been much of a show in the spring-time realm. Perhaps it will come later.
While things are still relatively calm we continue our daily appreciation of having the opportunity to live a summer on the shores of Idaho’s Crown Jewel.
We walk in the woods when inclined.
Not far really. Although we did one day make it the three miles down to a local resort. By the time we made it the three miles back we were sure we’d be lame for a good long while.
A vow was made to not again do something so silly for a good long while.
Truth is, there’s really not much need to go very far. We’ve got a hiking trail just off the end of our parking lot, numerous cross country ski paths and old logging roads winding here and there all around us.
In just the first quarter mile of each we’re able to witness regular changes and newness.
Some things remain the same.
Things like, mushrooms.
And knowing that you are being watched.
Mostly, it’s just new.
Even when it is old.
We’re looking forward to watching the area evolve as we continue into summer.
Sure, we enjoy the peace and quiet.
But we also look forward to watching people get out and enjoy this beautiful lake.
Watching the summer take hold will be exciting.
But for now,
This is what we have…
