While on duty the other day our supervisor suggested we take the time to explore Alexander Springs. Or so he thought. What we heard was Juniper Springs.
A first magnitude spring gushing 15 million gallons of water a day, Juniper is beautiful. And driving up to the pay entrance in a Forest Service truck saying, “We’re just going to take a look around.” is fun whether you are in the right spot or not! We really appreciated the opportunity to explore the area.
The swimming pool.
Old CCC built bridge with sand boils underneath (water bubbling up through the sand). This and the structure to create the swimming pool were built in the 1930’s.
The water is crystal clear and a constant 72 degrees.
The start of the seven mile Juniper Canoe run. Yes, there is actually water over that sand.
Still loving the touches of Fall that we are getting here.
Stay tuned for Part 3…
