The Many Faces of the Bighorn Canyon NRA

                                               This place is just amazing.
     The drive in is one of those where “WOW!” is the only word you can seem to produce.

                     We camped here the first night and thought it was pretty special.

The air smelled like sage.  If this isn’t sage, it does a good impression.

                             There were tiny flowers everywhere.

     When we approached this it looked like a cup of touch-me-please fuzz.
  It was one of those things where it looked rough but you just weren’t sure.

Expecting a contradiction, Nicole stroked it ever so softly.  All of the fuzz promptly fell out and revealed this delicate ‘flower’.  We have no idea what it was before it was a fuzz cup but we sure are glad that we found out what it is after.

Pretty sure this is a Shrike but we never got another look at it or photo of it.

                               Although the terrain is desert-like

                                  there is still a softness about it.

            Maybe it is the added flavor of the soft-looking grasses coating the ground.

Maybe it is the abundance of brightly colored, microscopic flowers.

          We were dazzled.  Little did we know that we had only been served the appetizer
